I’m interested in enrolling in beauty school, but I was wondering if schools offer part-time?

Of course! I can not speak for ALL beauty schools but the ones I’ve experienced have all offered part-time classes. Generally a typical day of class will consist of a 4 to 5 hour day and usually be in the evening. Part-time is a great opportunity for prospective students that have a full-time job, children, or just your average busy life. I myself completed my education part-time and it was the perfect fit (I was working full-time in a salon) I would even recommend, if students have a full schedule, that working at a salon during the day and going to beauty school at night is the perfect way to utilize all your time and squeeze in as much education as possible!

I’m interested in doing Wigs. Does the Cosmetology program at most schools have wigs as a primary focus?

I can only speak from my personal school. Wigs was part of the curriculum and we learned in full the process of wig placement in Theory (book work) as far as hands on work, it wasn’t as thorough. When searching for your future school let them know your primary focus is wigs and they can give you more information and point you in the right direction. Every school and are is different but they can defiantly point you in the right direction!

Do you find mannequin heads hard to work on?

That’s somewhere in the middle for me. Yes, mannequin heads the best way to learn new techniques on without totally butchering a real human being, but I have found working on them is a bit more difficult than a person. BUT, that’s a blessing in disguise. If you can accurately complete a technique on a mannequin, it makes it that much more simple on a human head.
