The objective of our training unit is to insure that our students develop the interpersonal skills professional attitude and thorough understanding of the mechanics of how a top quality salon operates. Topics include:

Our programs of study is approved by the National Accrediting Commission of Cosmetology Arts and Sciences, the New Hampshire State Board and the U.S. Department of Education.

Cosmetology Program

1,500 hours of training in the following areas:

• Personal Development, Ethics, Conduct - 25 hours
• Bacteriology, Sanitizing - 100 hours
• Shampooing - 50 hours
• Hair Analysis, Scalp Treatments - 75 hours
• Dermatology, Facial Massage - 100 hours
• State Laws, Rules & Regulations - 10 hours
• Tests - 30 hours
• Textbook Theory - 150 hours
• Unassigned - 25 hours
• Hair Styling, Blow Drying - 200 hours
• Hair Shaping & Related Designing - 150 hours
• Hair Color - 155 hours
• Permanent Waving & Straightening - 165 hours
• Manicuring - 20 hours
• Business Management & Salesmanship - 45 hours
• Applied Science - 200 hours

Esthetics Program

600 hours of training in the following areas:

• State Laws & Regulations - 10 hours
• Professional Image & Esthetics - 10 hours
• Anatomy & Applied Science - 30 hours
• Bacteriology & Infection Control - 20 hours
• Clinic Procedure - 20 hours
• Tests - 10 hours
• Textbook - 10 hours
• Unassigned - 15 hours
• The Skin and its Disorders - 30 hours
• Facial Treatments & Practical Application - 150 hours
• Facials for Dry Skin, Oily Skin, Comedones, etc. - 150 hours
• Preparation for Makeup Application, Chemistry of Cosmetics - 30 hours
• Hair Removal - 45 hours
• Reflexology, Massage and Body Treatments - 45 hours
• Foot & Hand Massage - 25 hours

Nail Technology Program

300 hours of training in the following areas:

• Personal Development - 20 hours
• Bacteriology - 25 hours
• State Laws, Rules & Regulations - 10 hours
• Tests - 10 hours
• Textbook Theory - 10 hours
• Unassigned - 5 hours
• Manicuring - 100 hours
• Business Management - 20 hours

Keene Beauty Academy participates in New Hampshire, Vermont and Massachusetts State Financial Aid programs. We also participate in U.S. Department of Education PELL grants for those eligible.
