The name Mark Anthony Institute originates back since 1998 when the first Mark Anthony Salon was opened in Covington, Louisiana. Since 1998 Mark Anthony Salon(s) have been a constant source in providing beauty and customer service in both the Mandeville and Covington area. Since 1998 we have been training cosmetologist to be successful in their career paths.

Mark Anthony Salon currently is a salon that is considered a Redken Elite salon. This simply put means that we have joined a globally recognized company (L'Oreal) for all of our advanced coloring and cutting, training and business techniques. All of our stylist receive additional training to further themselves and their careers in the cosmetology field, as well as become instructors in our institute. advance cutting and coloring techniques, business development courses and personal empowerment.

Cosmetology Course 
Our cosmetology course prepares the student in all phases of advanced hair, nails, skin, and business development. Each student will be prepared for the written and practical examination for the Louisiana State Board of Cosmetology. Advanced courses on haircutting, coloring and business development will be taught by utilizing Redken techniques and guidelines.

The Cosmetology course of study is comprised of a twelve-month (12) program, consisting of 1500 clock hours. Students have a standard required 12-month completion time. A maximum of 15-months for continuing circumstances under the continuing circumstance guidelines is allowed.

Each of the subjects listed below will be covered in the theory and practical work.

Scientific Concepts Infection Control, OSHA Requirements, Human Physiology, Chemical Principles, Anatomy of Hair, Scalp, Nails
 
Physical Services Shampoo, Draping, Rinses and Conditioners, Scalp, Facials, Make-up, Manicuring, Pedicuring, Artificial Nails, Waxing
 
Chemical Services Hair Coloring, Hair Lightening, Chemical Waving, Chemical Relaxing, Advanced Coloring Techniques/Placements
 
Hair Designing Hair Shaping, Hair Cutting, Advanced Finishing Techniques, Redken Principle Based Hair Design, Industry Trends, Alternative Hair Styling, Facial Hair Shaping 

Business Development Redken Product Knowledge, Product Use and Sales, Preparing and Consulting Clientele, Salon Integration, Personal Empowerment Skills, Tracking for Success
 
**Cosmetology course will prepare the student in the technical, personal and business skills needed to prepare you for the state licensing examination and for gainful employment in the cosmetology industry. 
 
Manicuring Course

Our manicuring course prepares the student in all phases of manicuring and pedicuring, artificial nail placement, business development, disinfection and sanitation. Retail product knowledge to enhance the technical service.

The manicuring course of study is comprised of a four-month (4) program, consisting of 500 clock hours. Students have a standard 4-month completion time. A maximum of 5-months for continuing circumstances under the continuing circumstance guidelines is allowed.
Each of the subjects listed below will be covered in the theory and practical work.

Scientific Concepts Basic Human Physiology, Nail Composition, Chemistry, Sanitizing and Sterilization
Procedures Supplies and Implements, Artificial and Natural Nail Technology, Manicure, Pedicure, Basic Massage
Application and Repair of Artificial and Natural Nails
 
Safety and Infection Control  
Louisiana Cosmetology Act and Rules and Regulation  
Business Development Product Knowledge, Product Use and Sales, Preparing and Consulting Clientele, Salon Integration, Personal Empowerment Skills, Tracking for Success
 
**Manicuring course will prepare the student in the technical, personal and business skills need to prepare you for the state licensing examination and for gainful employment in the manicuring industry.

 Instructor Training Course
Our instructor training course prepares the licensed cosmetologist with the tools necessary to pass the state licensing examination. Students will learn the science of teaching methods and how to properly facilitate in a classroom setting.

The instructor course of study is comprised of a four-month (4) program, consisting of 500 clock hours. Students have a standard 4-month completion time. A maximum of 5-months for continuing circumstances under the continuing circumstances guidelines is allowed. A minimum of one year salon experience is required to enroll in the instructor training course.

Advanced Training Techniques Master skills necessary to teach advanced hair designing
 
**Upon graduation and licensing you will be qualified to teach full or part- time in a licensed school.
