MASSAGE THERAPY
Associate Of Applied Science Degree Program
The vocational objective of the Surgical Technology Program is to prepare graduates to work as a Surgical Technologist in an operating room with surgeons, anesthesiologists, registered nurses, and other surgical team members. Surgical Technologists maintain asepsis in the operating room, pass instruments and sterile items and equipment to the surgeon during a procedure, maintain the sterile field, and prepare instruments, supplies and equipment before and after an operation. Graduates may be eligible for positions as Scrub Surgical Technologist, Circulating Surgical Technologist, or Second Assisting Technologist. Graduates of CAAHEP-accredited programs are eligible to sit for the national certification exam in Surgical Technology to become a Certified Surgical Technologist. (CST
Diploma Programs
The objective of the diploma program is to provide the student with the clinical skills necessary to perform the duties of a massage therapist in a variety of medical and entrepreneurial settings.
COSMETOLOGY
Diploma Program
The cosmetology program is designed to provide competency-based knowledge, scientific/art principles, and hands-on fundamentals associated with the cosmetology industry. Miller-Motte's advanced approached provides a simulated salon environment which enables students to develop manipulative skills and knowledge that can lead to an entry-level career in the field of Cosmetology, in hair sculpture and design, color and perming, as well as nails and skin
ESTHETICS TECHNOLOGY
Certificate Program
The Esthetics Technology program is designed to give the student the knowledge necessary to develop manipulative skills for entry level into the Esthetics profession and to help prepare graduates to qualify to sit for the Tennessee State Board licensing examination. Coursework includes instruction in bacteriology and disinfection, skin structure, diseases and disorders, facials, aromatherapy, body treatments and microdermabrasion. Upon successful completion of the licensing exam, graduates will be issued a license by the Tennessee State Board. Employment opportunities include salons, spas, dermatology offices and other related businesses as an esthetician, skin specialist, educator, platform artist, manufacturer's representative, facial product salesperson and more.
NAIL TECHNOLOGY
The program objective is to give the student the knowledge necessary to develop manipulative skills for entry level into the Nail Technology profession and to help prepare graduates to qualify to sit for the Tennessee State Board licensing examination. Course work includes instruction in professional development, bacteriology, sanitation and disinfection, nail structure, diseases and disorders, natural nails, artificial nails, pedicures, business/computer principles, product knowledge, and other selected topics.
