Whistler School of Massage and Spa Services(WSMSS) An holistic approach to well being
The WSMSS offers a unique hands on education in relaxation massage and spa services...unique for two reasons: one, the students learn in a real work environment at Solarice Spa in Whistler (Solarice Spa offers a beautiful facility with 7 treatment rooms); two, the practical hands-on skill involves precise massage and palpative techniques enabling the student to practice spa massage, postural rehabilitation massage and massage for pain relief.
The academic portion of the training program includes: Anatomy-Physiology, Myology, Osteology, Massage Theory and Practice, Pathology and Sports injuries contra-indications and precautions, Kinesiology, Biomechanics. The practical aspect of the program includes: Level One: Swedish massage; Level Two: Deep Connective Tissue and Myofacial massage; Level Three: Neuro-muscular Massage; Level Four: Trigger points; Level Five: Key measurement of Anatomical Landmarks, Advanced Palpation of Musculo-skeletal Imbalance and Precision Massage Techniques. The students will also learn: Sports Massage, introduction to Shiatsu and energy points (Acupressure). The spa services include full body exfoliation, full body clay mask and European herbal wrap and hydrotherapy.
The Whistler School of Massage and Spa Services (WSMSS) is recognized by the Association of Massage Therapists and Holistic Practitioners which is a national association. The WSMSS is registered by the Private Career Training Institution Agency of British Columbia (PCTIA) and also a member of the Whistler Chamber of Commerce.
Our goal is to provide an excellent academic and practical education that will allow the students to practice effective relaxation massage and spa services in a safe manner and with confidence. The WSMSS educates the students to use excellent body mechanics and develop accurate palpation skills which will prepare for a professional massage career and enable the student to work anywhere in the world in the growing massage and spa industry.
