The California Board of Barbering and Cosmetology License requirements:
COSMETOLOGIST: 1600 hours
ESTHETICIAN: 600 hours
MANICURIST: 400 hours
BARBER: 1500 hours
ELECTROLOGIST: 600 Hours
Reciprocity: Applicants must take written and practical exam. In the case of barbers, Barbers have to take both a written and a practical examination. However, barber instructors require only a written exam as issued by the Board of Barbering and Cosmetology.
