Question: How do I obtain a Nevada Cosmetology License?
Answer: In order to obtain a license in cosmetology, manicuring or esthetics in the state of Nevada, students must complete the requirements listed below. As stated by the Nevada State Board of Cosmetology, to get a PA cosmetology license, one must have attended a Nevada cosmetology school or when transferring into the state, the PA Board of Cosmetology, requires you to meet their guidelines. After finishing your training, you are required to pass a licensing exam issue by the Nevada State Board of Cosmetology. Once passing you will receive your Nevada cosmetology license.

Answer: The Nevada State Board of Cosmetology requires the following number of hours of training for each specialty below:

Applicants for a cosmetology license in the state of Nevada must be persons of good moral character, have an education equivalent to the successful completion of the 10th grade and be at least 18 years of age. Electrologists must have 12th grade education or its equivalent. In addition, applicants must have a minimum number of training hours as outlined by the board:
• Cosmetologist - 1800 hours
• Hair designer - 1200 hours
• Aesthetician - 600 hours
• Manicurist - 500 hours
• Electrologists - 500 hours (under the immediate supervision of an approved electrologist)
Nevada State Board of Cosmetology Additional Requirements
All applicants must be at least 18 years of age and have the equivalent of a 10th grade education.
Question: How do I transfer my license from another state?
Answer: In order to transfer a license to Nevada, the candidate must have a current license in another state. This license must be in good standing and the applicant must prove they have passed a national written exam. If the candidate has not taken a national written exam they must take the exam prior to obtaining a license in Nevada.
