As stated by the New Mexico State Board of Cosmetology, to get a New Mexico cosmetology license, one must have attended a New Mexico cosmetology school or when transferring into the state, the PA Board of Cosmetology, requires you to meet their guidelines. After finishing your training, you are required to pass a licensing exam issue by the New Mexico (PA) State Board of Cosmetology. Once passing you will receive your New Mexico cosmetology license.

New Mexico Board of Cosmetology Additional Requirements
All applicants must be at least 17 years of age and have a minimum of 2 years in high school or its equivalent.
Question: How do I transfer my license from another state?
Answer: Applicants who have not completed a course of study equal to the requirements of this state may receive credit for work experience. For every 6 full months of work completed, the applicant will be credited with 150 hours of training. Any applicants that have completed a course with requirements equal to this state must furnish a transcript of hours and a copy of a valid license.
