Tennessee Board of Cosmetology license requirements:
The Tennessee Cosmetology Board shall issue a license to any person who meets the following Tennessee cosmetology license requirements:
- Must be at least 16 years of age
- Pass a written and practical examination is required
- Complete the required course hours in the practice and theory at a school of cosmetology
Tennessee Cosmetology Board Required classroom training:
- COSMETOLOGY: 1500 hours
- ESTHETICS: 750 hours
- NAIL TECHNOLOGY: 600 hours
Reciprocity: The Tennessee Cosmetology Board requires applicants with out-of-state licenses to meet the minimum required classroom training hours. If you are licensed but do not meet the required classroom hours and cannot provide a 5-year work history, you will need to submit your application for reciprocity to the board office.
