Question: How do I obtain a West Virginia Cosmetology License?

Answer: In order to obtain a license in cosmetology, esthetics or nail technology in the state of West Virginia, students must complete the requirements listed below. When getting a West Virginia cosmetology license, there really is no incorrect way to go about training as long as you have completed your coursework at a West Virginia cosmetology school.

As stated by the West Virginia (PA) State Board of Cosmetology, to get a WV cosmetology license, one must have attended a West Virginia cosmetology school or when transferring into the state, the PA Board of Cosmetology, requires you to meet their guidelines. After finishing your training, you are required to pass a licensing exam issue by the West Virginia (WV) State Board of Cosmetology.

Once passing you will receive your West Virginia cosmetology license. You’re now able to work in the state of West Virginia. Keep in mind, just because you received your WV cosmetology license you may want to consider continuing education to further get full utilization from your WV cosmetology license. Total work experience that may be accepted cannot exceed 50% of the required hours, and must have been acquired within the past 5 years.
